A REVITALIZED PARTY, A NEW DIRECTION, AND A PROMISING PATH FORWARD

The people of Louisiana are depending on us to deliver on urgent priorities: protecting our coastline and environment, defending Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, restoring reproductive rights, providing better paying jobs, access to affordable healthcare, and stopping the bleed of good talent leaving Louisiana for other states.


Let us move forward unified - from urban centers to rural strongholds - and past the unfortunate narrative that Democrats have hit rock bottom in Louisiana. 

  • Build the Big Tent Party in Louisiana

    • Build and sustain strong, diverse coalitions with activists fighting for social justice, labor reforms, educational improvements, and other community interests. Because we are operating in a Red State and coming from behind, this is vitally important.
    • Coordinate with any and all organizations that share our Democratic ideals and goals. 
    • Identify and assess existing challenges and create solutions expediently.
    • Expand our fundraising base. We have to consistently fundraise by engaging both large and small donor sources, new and old, regardless of whether an election is on the horizon or not. This is imperative.

  • Deploy Unwavering and Effective Messaging

    • Promote and advance compelling messaging throughout the year, every year. 
    • It is vitally important that we use every effective means and methods of public communication available to aggressively promote our messaging.
    • Aggressively engage in voter registration and voter education to rebuild the party. 
    • Our organizing and messaging has to be aggressive, persistent, and unwavering. This will start immediately upon the installment of our new, energized, and determined leadership. 
    • Let’s create an effective candidate profile program, to select the right candidates for a race. If the answer to the simple question, “Would I vote for this candidate?” isn’t affirmative, let’s reassess so we can find someone that will gain the requisite voter support to win.
    • Stress the power of the vote. We should work to ensure voters are informed both about what candidates are looking to accomplish and how much of a difference their vote can make on our collective future.   
    • Create messaging that is more strategic and directly aligned with the most vital needs of the voters, engaging with what directly impacts them, their families, and their homes.
    • Move away from political strategies that simply replay ineffective messaging of unsuccessful campaigns. We need strategies and messaging that address the evolving critical issues and effective solutions of the future.
    • Develop strategies and messaging that engage and address the concerns and interests of voting blocks that have been neglected and overlooked, reminding them that they matter and that the Democratic candidates are the ones who will fight to improve their lives.  

  • Engage Next Generation of Democratic Leaders

    • Our goal is not to just build successful campaigns, but to build a movement to advance the hopes and laudable goals of Democrats across the state.
    • Refocus on winning local elections statewide, especially in races where data demonstrates we should win. 
    • Recruit exciting candidates for every seat and give them the support they need to compete and win.
    • Engage with communities throughout the state to identify candidates who can accurately and effectively represent their communities and move us forward. 
    • Strengthen our efforts on every college campus in the state, establishing active Young Democrat organizations that produce eager, well-informed leaders of tomorrow and expand our base. 
    • With a strong contingent of active Young Democrat clubs, we can swing elections in our direction and have built-in the next crop of candidates and political operatives. 
    • Recruiting aspiring leaders at the college level and working to train them will create the next generation of transformative candidates to drive our future toward progress.
